![]() ![]() Once complete, you have Flatpak installed on Ubuntu. Type Y to allow the installation to proceed. These are dependencies that are required, so you can’t skip them. You’ll notice a couple of extra packages are listed at this point. Hit the Enter key and type in your password if/when prompted. To install Flatpak on Ubuntu open a new Terminal window and run the following command: sudo apt install flatpak gnome-software-plugin-flatpak gnome-software And, because of the way the Ubuntu Software app is packaged, trying to do the same task using a graphical app is …laborious. ![]() But there’s little to go wrong provided you follow the instructions as written. I get it: running terminal commands is scary. The fastest way to install Flatpak on Ubuntu (18.04 LTS or above) is to use the command line. Of course, there are other reasons why you may want to use this new-fangled app format so feel free to expand on my list down in the comments section.
